There are lots of ways to get involved with the PAC and help enrich the experience of the students at school. We are a friendly group of parents and welcome any new parents who want to help out.
Come to PAC Meetings
The best way to get involved is to come to a PAC meeting. It's a great way to find out what's happening and voice your opinions and/or raise any concerns. Child minding is provided for free either in the gym or another room by grade 7 volunteers.
A typical meeting starts with parents, the principal and sometimes the Vice-Principal gathering in the library, signing in and grabbing some drinks and snacks. At the tables, you'll usually see an agenda and a financial report for you to keep. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. It's also a great chance to meet other parents before the meeting starts.
The meeting will begin with introductions (each parent stating their name and what grade(s) their kid(s) are in) and then we go through the agenda. At anytime, parents are welcome to ask questions or speak up. Often times, you'll be asked for your opinion on various topics like fundraising ideas, hot lunch providers and more.
The agenda also usually includes updates from various committees, a financial recap, a principal's report of events and initiatives at the school and lastly, an open discussion time giving parents an opportunity to bring up any topics of interest.
Volunteers are needed to help with Scholastic Book Fairs (collecting money, door duty), Clothing Drive (sorting bags), General fundraisers at the school (Popcorn Day), School Wide Fitness route monitors (once a month, weather permitting) and Breakfast with Santa. Whatever time you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Shifts can be as short as 30 minutes. This is a fun and informal way to meet with other parents and bring a smile to your child's face. Please leave us your contact information and what you're interested in helping with and we'll contact you. You can reach us here.
Money: Your donations are always welcome. We can accept donations by PayPal or cheques made out to "Renfrew S.C.A." which can be left at the school office. Please make sure your name and address is included so the VSB can mail you a tax receipt (for donations $25 or over)
Old Clothes: In January - February, we welcome old clothes and household items for our clothing drive.
Miscellaneous: Sometimes the school may need other miscellaneous materials and would welcome your donations in kind. If you have something you think the school might like, you can contact the Renfrew School Office and ask.

Often, committees are also put together where you'll be asked to help out for a specific event. We understand parents are busy, so we also welcome 2 people taking on a job together so it won't be as time consuming.
